Golden State is back in NBA Finals

Stephen Curry and the Warriors are back in the NBA Finals for the sixth time in eight years.

Six times in eight seasons, the Golden State Warriors have returned to the NBA Finals. In the Western Conference finals on Thursday night, the Warriors won 120-110 against the Dallas Mavericks to win the series by 4-1. As a result, the Warriors will await the winner of the Boston Celtics-Miami Heat Eastern Conference finals.

This game had little competition, as was the trend during the conference finals. Despite hanging in and briefly cutting the deficit to single digits towards the end of the third quarter, the Mavericks never led. Warriors played one of their most complete postseason games, dominating in the paint and on the glass, limiting turnovers, and assisting on 36 of their 45 baskets.

Klay Thompson led the game with eight 3-pointers and 32 points to turn back the clock in the series. Six Warriors scored in double figures, including Andrew Wiggins, who had 18 points and 10 rebounds in another strong performance. The Warriors also shot well from downtown, making 14 of 36.

Luke Doncic had a slow start but caught fire in the third quarter to lead the Mavericks’ comeback effort. He finished with 28 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in defeat. Spencer Dinwiddie chipped in 26 points off the bench.
