In a 129-118 victory at the Chase Center on Friday, the Golden State Warriors won their ninth home game. With a 12-8 record entering play, the Jazz have surprised many this season and have been one of the most impressive teams in the league.
The Jazz’s first-half shooting was cold, leading to the Warriors taking advantage. The Jazz started the game with an abysmal 3-for-21 mark from three despite several open looks. Despite the struggles of the DDDubs’ defense, luck was on Golden State’s side as they built a 37-23 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Warriors’ second unit struggled on Friday, as the Jazz cut the Warriors’ lead in half while Curry was on the bench. The early lead for Golden State may deceive you, but their offense missed plenty of opportunities to extend their lead. In spite of this, the Warriors were unable to pull away due to turnovers and missed shots in the paint. As a result, they led at half 59-51.
While Curry was on the floor, the Jazz began to capitalize on their open threes and erase the Warriors’ lead. As the Jazz entered the final minute of the third quarter, Lauri Markkanen made his first three of the game, giving them a 71-70 lead.
The Warriors rallied behind Klay Thompson to once again distance themselves from the Jazz. Golden State led 97-86 at the end of the third quarter thanks to his 12 points on 4-for-5 three-point shooting.
It was much better for Green’s second unit in the second half, scoring only -2 before Curry returned with eight minutes remaining. Despite staying within striking distance most of the fourth quarter, the Jazz were unable to pull within eight points.
Warriors guard Curry led the way with 33 points, five rebounds, and four assists. He had his most turnover-prone game of thseason,s, finishing with a plus/minus of +21. Every other member of the Warriors’ starting lineup scored at least 10 points.
