Pistons vs. Warriors

Piston’s buzzer-beater thwarts another c comeback

It was a timely reminder to the Dubs that Steph Curry is needed.

After five games without Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins, the Golden State Warriors lost to the Detroit Pistons 122-119 on Wednesday. The Dodgers’ place in the standings compensated for their missed opportunities in another wild back-and-forth at the Chase Center

With 4.2 seconds left on the clock, the Warriors fouled Pistons guard Killian Hayes, who gave Detroit a three-point lead. Thompson tied the game at 119 with a leaning three from the right wing after the Dubs head coach called a timeout. Things seemed to be heading for overtime with one second left.

After a Pistons inbound play broke, Saddiq Bey hit a fadeaway in the final seconds that fell through the hoop as the buzzer sounded.

Thompson scored 30 points. Poole scored 24 points. In addition to his eight points, Kevon Looney grabbed 15 rebounds. A pair of technical fouls led to Green being ejected after he recorded four points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

  1. Why don’t we put J. Poole in the bench he’s causing the team loss until he learn he’s mistakes. I am sorry but its true, He should go to school to practice dribbling and learn to run with the ball

    1. Jordan Poole averaged at least 20 points in the Warriors’ eight home games. His points totaled more than 40 once, 30 twice, and 25 or more five times. With five wins in a row and three losses, Poole averaged 27.9 points for the Warriors, who ended up 5-3.

In that time frame, he also shot 42.3 percent from the field and 28.6 percent from the 3-point range. Poole kept the Warriors afloat during Curry’s 11 consecutive absences due to a left shoulder injury. But he also was a headache losing the ball, averaging 4.1 assists and 4.8 turnovers.

After starting the previous 17 games, Poole was pushed to the bench by Curry’s return. He summed up his season as the Warriors’ sixth man. The first half saw him take three shots, scoring just two points. During the third and fourth quarters, Pole scored 12 and 13 points, respectively. He finished the game with 27 points.

The highs of being 23 are those of being an All-Star. Knowing how talented Poole is, the lows leave you scratching your head.

Poole has 144 turnovers halfway through the season despite averaging 20.8 points per game. This has been a very eye-opening experience for me because of his inefficiency. Poole’s statistics include a 42.8 percent field goal and a 31 percent three-point shooting percentage. His 3-point rate has hovered around 27.9 percent since his rough rookie year. With the Warriors, Poole shot 42.8 percent from the field and 33.3 from beyond the arc when he was sent to the G League bubble in 2020-21.

He needs to get his 3-point shooting close to last season’s 36.4 percent or where it ended in 2020-21, 35.1%. Now that Klay Thompson may be forced to sit, Poole will have to start games on the bench. The quality of his offensive play is undeniable. It will be vital for the Warriors to count victories if Poole plays efficiently and is under control on that side of the ball.
