Steph Curry anchors 113-109 Warriors victory over Pistons

Warriors avoid blowing a lead against the NBA’s worst team.

By defeating the Detroit Pistons 113-109 on Friday night, the Golden State Warriors avoided back-to-back catastrophic losses. Almost 24 hours after losing to the Nuggets by 16 points in the fourth quarter, the Warriors came close to losing to the NBA’s worst team.

The Warriors’ veterans Steph Curry and Klay Thompson were less effective shooting on limited rest during the second half of a back-to-back. While Curry led the team with 26 points (Thompson was second with 19) and came through in the clutch for Golden State, the Splash Brothers both made fewer than 40% of their shots from the field and only 33.3% from three.

With their top scorers not generating efficient offense, Golden State once again turned to its depth. Dario Saric led all other Dubs with 17 points, knocking down a trio of triples. Trayce Jackson-Davis and Brandin Podziemski scored 11 points off the bench, while Jackson-Davis made all five of his field-goal attempts and had 9 rebounds.
